Induction Day 24, Goodbye Hair

On February 8th we started really noticing Lincoln’s hair falling out. It was coming out all over his pillow, shirt, us, everything.  P1030332

Lincoln fell asleep on the couch and Ryan sat and ran his fingers through his hair for about a half hour.  The second picture below is how much hair he got out.P1030338P1030336February 9th his hair looked much thinner, but he still had a pretty full head of beautiful auburn hair.P1030341P1030344Three days later, today, February 12th…..here he is.  I pray his beautiful hair will come back the same way it was because I loved it so much.  I can’t believe how fast it all came out in only 4 days.  I thought maybe he was going to be some miracle child who never really lost his hair since it’d been 3 weeks and he hadn’t lost much at all.

This morning he was coming into our room and I think he got a glimpse of himself in the mirror because he just stood at our bed not moving like he was upset about something but not enough to cry over it.  I’m grateful he’s young enough to not know or care much about self-image.  Ryan begged him to take out the pacifier for the pictures but he wouldn’t and as you can see he’s completely reverted back to that habit both day and night.   I must say though, he is still pretty beautiful even with the passy and without the hair. I can see Lincoln's smile shining through even with the pacifier in his mouth! He definitely had a head full of beautiful hair, and I'm sure he will again. That's one blessing- hair grows back. Chemo baldness is not forever.

I know these pics might have been hard for you to post, but I'm so glad you did. Lots of love and prayers for continued treatment success!

XO,
Heather

I can't believe how much he lost in just a couple of days. I loved his long hair too but ohhh Cheryl he is still a SUCH a beautiful little boy without the long auburn hair. I'm sure it will grow back the same. Thanks for posting the pictures. I love him eating a donut on the kitchen counter, too.

there's something about seeing his cute bald head that makes him look even cuter, like he's a baby again or something. : ) plus his gorgeous eyes stand out more. what a doll.

Cheryl you are so brave and amazing. Thanks for sharing this experience with all of us. You are constantly in our prayers and I agree that Lincolns is still a beautiful little boy. I've always thought your kids were just adorable and Lincoln looks good even without his hair.

Oh Cheryl - these pictures break my heart. I can't believe it fell out so fast. I thought it would take weeks of it thinning and before it was all gone. He's still adorable and so happy. You're right - he doesn't know what's going and it doesn't bother him. It will come back. I love him and his little smile through the passi.
