Biggest Disappointment Ever

I understand that everyone is human and makes mistakes. But telling your pregnancy obsessed, high-risk patient she'll be finding out the gender of her baby and have an extensive ultra-sound at her next appointment and then not doing it is one mistake that is not acceptable! That's exactly what happened today. Ryan skipped important school lectures so we could go to the appointment that we've been counting down to all month only to wait an hour to have a five minute appointment listening to the heartbeat. Although I am ecstatic that there is still a heartbeat, I am heart broken that we didn't have the appointment I was promised.

My doctor apologized for "misleading us to think this was that appointment because it is most definitely the next appointment at 20 weeks." With Ryan as my witness, she did not mislead, she misspoke. I even questioned her about it afterward because 17 weeks seemed too early to find out the gender, but she reassured me it was today's appointment.

So it looks like I have another month of waiting before I get a picture and a gender.

Boo... your Dr. is lame. Give me her address so I can send her a letter. I still can't wait to find out what this little baby will be!

That stinks, Cheryl. I know if that happened to us, we'd be pretty disappointed. Becky's next appt is at the beginning of March, I think, and it'll be around 18 weeks by then...but still to early to find out gender. Keep us posted!

Dang! We are anxious to find out. I hope it's a girl, but if it's a boy I have lots of clothes to send you!

That stinks! What a dissapointment. At least at the next one there should be no mistaking the gender. Can't wait to find out!

BUMMER. I think finding out the gender is the most exciting part of the whole 9 months--excluding birth. It makes it seem so much more real. Can't wait to find out.

Hi Cheryl! Congratulations on your baby news. I can't wait to hear what you're having. I had a similar experience where we made sure Kevin could be there, and then it didn't happen. sheesh. Your big should be coming up...very exciting!
