Baby's First Pictures

Wow...I just taught myself to scan pictures into the computer, change the file type, and get them on my blog and it only took me 3 hours. Mom, I hope you enjoy these because that definitely took longer than I thought! So anyway, here's the first of many photo shoots of our little, nameless guy. I was hoping to include a picture of me as well because I'm much bigger since my last pregnant pic, but our camera battery is dead and I can't find the charger!! As soon as I find it I'll post my growing belly.

Happy Birthday and a Baby Boy!

Happy Birthday Mom!!

Mom I love you so much and hope you have a fabulous birthday. You are so supportive and wonderful and I am so glad you are mine. I can't imagine my life with out you. You've taught me so much and are truly one of my very best friends. Happy, Happy Birthday!!

In other news, and for those of you who haven't already heard from my sister's blog which is much more impressive and more frequently visited than mine....I'm having a boy!!! Ryan and I are so happy he's healthy and growing. I'll admit, I'm a little thrown off because my mom and sister convinced me it was going to be a girl, but I'm thrilled non the less. Ryan is super excited. I've got to get to work, but I'll try and upload some of our first pictures of the little guy when I have more time.

P.S. I'm 20 weeks today! Half way there!

Biggest Disappointment Ever

I understand that everyone is human and makes mistakes. But telling your pregnancy obsessed, high-risk patient she'll be finding out the gender of her baby and have an extensive ultra-sound at her next appointment and then not doing it is one mistake that is not acceptable! That's exactly what happened today. Ryan skipped important school lectures so we could go to the appointment that we've been counting down to all month only to wait an hour to have a five minute appointment listening to the heartbeat. Although I am ecstatic that there is still a heartbeat, I am heart broken that we didn't have the appointment I was promised.

My doctor apologized for "misleading us to think this was that appointment because it is most definitely the next appointment at 20 weeks." With Ryan as my witness, she did not mislead, she misspoke. I even questioned her about it afterward because 17 weeks seemed too early to find out the gender, but she reassured me it was today's appointment.

So it looks like I have another month of waiting before I get a picture and a gender.

Prom, Pregnant and Back to Blonde

Yesterday was so much fun!! My friend Robin got married, and then our 3rd annual Medical school Prom was last night. The wedding was beautiful and the Prom was a blast. Good times in Charlottesville!!

.

So I'm 17 weeks pregnant now and am so excited!!!! Things seem to be going well this time and I couldn't be happier about it. Tomorrow I find out the gender so stay tuned to find out. My mom and Wendy are convinced it's a girl. I'll be happy with either. Less than 24 hours to go.

A Rock Band Christmas

What did 25 Harris's do in one house for three days in Boise, Idaho over Christmas? Two words.... ROCK BAND. I think I'd be happy never hearing, "Eye of the Tiger" again in my life! While I found it initially entertaining, my husband, nieces, nephews and in-laws couldn't get enough. It was great bonding time non-the-less. I am lucky to have married into such a fun family.

A time for Food, I mean, Thanks

As much as I miss Thanksgiving with the fam. and my mom's great cookin', we've found a way to make it pretty great here in C'ville on our own. The past two years a bunch of couples from our ward have all gotten together and rented out a room at the law school for a pot-luck Thanksgiving feast, and both years it's been fantastic! Check out this food!

It was the best of two worlds, because we got the great food, and my sister, brother in law, and nephew drove down and spent it with us!

When we found out we were in charge of one of the birds, we were a little nervous, but Ryan rose to the occasion and went all out. I wanted to shove it in the oven and call it good. When that was my plan, Ryan took over and brined it over night in salt/sugar water in a garbage sack on our porch, buttered it up betweeen the skin and the meat, and stuffed it with herbs and spices.....it was delicious. He also made three dynomite pies. Hopefully this will continue in the future and he'll just be in charge of our Thanksgiving meals.

I'm Thankful that I have so many great friends to spend the holidays with when my family is so far away.

PS. In case you were wondering, I haven't been hiding my son for the past two years...sometimes I just like to hold random kids in photos and pretend they are mine. Thanks Sara!

Oh the Beauty of the Earth

Seriously, check out the beauty that is Charlottesville. Ryan and I can't get over it. I feel like I'm living in a wonderland. Doesn't this make you want to come visit me? I think you should.

This is our parking lot. How amazing is that?
